Christmas Styles

I didn't do anything too big for Christmas this year. I had one party with friends and then stayed home with family on Christmas Day, but I always feel as though both of those occasions require something a little extra fashion wise.

For my friend's Christmas party I went with this:
Dress from Free People, Vintage Boots, Watch from Swatch
I had originally not had the Swatch on, but put it on at the party because I had received it from on of my friends as a gift. I wore the red lacy dress because it seemed very festive without going overboard. It is definitely something I can wear again without looking ridiculous. I paired that with my vintage gold boots that I wear with pretty much anything. I think they matched well with the theme because I think metallics are very Christmas-y.
Oh boy.
I wore my hair down except for the front pieces that were wrapped around a scarf and tied in a knot at the top of my head. I wanted to do a very Frida Kahlo hairstyle and I think I kind of succeeded. The scarf was red, black, and gold which fit my outfit perfectly. I was wearing Cyber by MAC on my lips for some added drama because I felt that my makeup looked a bit bland.

For Christmas Day at my home I wore this:
Oh God I'm such a loser.
Skirt from Free People, Crop Top from American Apparel.
Since my family wasn't doing much on Christmas Day I decided to keep it simple, but still dress it up a bit. I am obsessed with my new Free People skirt. I feel like a gypsy/fairy/a wild west bride/prairie queen/the cool girl at Woodstock. So basically I feel like Stevie Nicks. I paired it with my white crop top because the length was perfect and I didn't want to add too much color to the outfit. My dog wanted no part of that picture.

My hair was just completely down and normal the whole day. My make up was simple. I just had on more blush than I usually wear, mascara, and a little bit of red lip gloss mixed with chapstick. I wanted the whole look to be very minimalistic and slightly angelic (although I look like a perpetually moody teenager).

I hope you all had a lovely holiday season full of love and laughter!

Rad Plaid

I have been wanting to start clashing more patterns in my wardrobe lately, so I decided to start simple and load up on plaids. I was going for a look similar to this girl (who I totally just found right now):
I wore a tartan type plaid red, white, and blue dress with a red and black buffalo check flannel with a tartan cream, red, green, and yellow jacket. I actually love how it all came together!

Here is the whole outfit :
I am not sure what my face is doing.
Here is a closer view (Sorry for my crappy pictures and giant UO bag. I was Christmas shopping for my friends!):
You can just barely see the flannel under the jacket, but whatever.
Again, sorry for bad quality. I have been very busy and only had time to take an action shot on the go today. I must say I will most definitely be venturing further into the pattern clashing world! It is much easier to put together and pull off then I expected!

Gold Rush

I am dedicating an entire post to this pair of boots I just got. I've been dying for gold boots for the longest time and finally got my hands on these for $49 on Etsy. (Although I am still eyeing a $260 pair.)
I need to clean my baseboards...
They look a little silver in pictures, but they are definitely all gold in person. And not only are they a beautiful pair of gold booties, but they are a beautiful pair of gold booties WITH CATS
meow
LOOK AT THAT SHIT LIKE WHAT. They are a little scuffed up, but I actually only noticed when I went to take these pictures. They both have cat heads on the outside of the heel and then...
 they wrap around the heel...
poot
AND BECOME LITTLE CAT BUTTS. WHAT.
I kind of love how scuffed up the toes are because it makes them look used and loved. They come up maybe two or three inches above my ankles. The toes have a bit of a point to them which I love even though they make my feet look a little longer. I have been wearing them with everything from black lace dresses to skinny jeans and a sweater. They go great with everything and add a lot of character to boring outfits. I am just completely in love with these boots and I think I have started a gold shoe addiction.

All I Want For Christmas is Everything.

Ah, Christmas. The time for spreading cheer and gathering around the warm fire with the ones you love. It is also a time for being exceedingly materialistic. Now, I love giving gifts. I love shopping for people, looking around until I find something that I know they are going to love and cherish  I love wrapping presents up and  then watching the recipient, full of excitement, tear it open and unveil the item I picked out and bought just for them. As much as I love the giving part of the holiday season, I also love the getting part. Every year I make The List. It takes me months to finalize the Official List. I have bookmarks upon bookmarks of items that are List Contenders. I currently have two bookmark folders right now that are named "Christmas" and "srs xmas." I have so many things that I want I have to create a hierarchy of desire. Now I fully realize how despicable and materialistic this all is, but at the end of the day, getting a bunch of stuff for free is awesome. So here are a few star items on my Official Christmas List:

The Oxford Harness! I have been eyeing this for quite a while now and Christmas seems like the perfect time to invest on this baby. I really want this harness in the tan color though. I think it really adds a lot of interest to an outfit.

Swatches! My best friend has gotten me obsessed with Swatches! She bought me one for Christmas already, but I need MORE! I'm turning into a monster.
Gent Original in Rise-Up by Swatch

This absolutely amazing Montague sweater! I have always loved Romeo & Juliet and I have always favored the Montague family. I love Wildfox's whole line of R&J themed clothing.

These gorgeous shoes that have been bookmarked on my computer for ages. They just look so clean and stylish. I think they would also look great paired with the Oxford Harness.
Simona by Plomo
I also want to go thrifting with my Christmas money. I'm thinking of just setting aside a few days for doing nothing but non-stop thrift shopping. I already have 20+ thrift shops written down in my moleskin. I'll probably do that mid-December and then figure out what to buy with the rest of my money.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. Not just because I have an excuse to be materialistic, but also because I get to see all my friends and family. My friend Georgi who lives in Las Vegas is coming to NY for Christmas and I am so happy! I haven't seen her in a year! My friend John who goes to college in Florida is also coming home for Christmas! I haven't seen him in three months which doesn't sound like a long time, but we used to see each other almost everyday so it really feels like a lifetime. Needless to say, there will be much festivities and general all around jolliness this holiday season. Getting cool new clothes is just a bonus.

Thankful For Outfits and Animals.

This Thanksgiving I'd like to thank the world for my dog, Murphy and my cat, Miss Whiskers. They are perfect creatures and I love them more than all humans. I got my dog Murphy in the summer of 2005. She has lived through pneumonia, a slipped spinal disk, and a bunch of surgeries. She is my best friend in the world~
I got my cat in spring 2011. She is the sassiest person ever and doesn't take any shit. She love/hates me and the rest of the world. She is pretty much exactly like me.

My outfit today is one of my favorites. Although it is unflattering on my figure, I love the dress! I found this old 80's blouse in my mother's closet! It is so amazing with huge shoulder pads, buttons that look like pearls, and cut out lace around the collar. My shoes were a past Christmas present and I managed to rip the front walking up some brick steps.

This is my face.

I guess since I already did a little introduction post, it is time to post a picture of myself. So here it is....my face.

My face and I have known each other for quite a while. About 18 years, in fact. We've been through a lot together; cuts, scrapes, black eyes, makeup experiments, and quite a lot of acne. And through it all, we have always had quite a love/hate relationship. I guess I am the perfect example of a "victim of media's perception of women" or something. With my "huge" nose, "chubby" cheeks, and "gross" skin. I can remember that I asked my mom for a nose job for my seventh birthday. Even now, I poke and prod at my full cheeks, wishing I could have razor sharp cheekbones like the girls in Vogue. Despite all of that, I think my biggest qualm with my face has always been my skin. From ages nine to seventeen I had really bad acne. I caked my face with thick layers of foundation to try and conceal it, but it was obviously still there. I would obsess over pictures of  models and celebrities with perfect, porcelain (photoshopped) skin. Only in the past few months has my skin cleared up to how it is now. I can now manage to show my bare face around my friends and even in public (although I still love make up<3). At my ~wise, old age~ I have come to terms with my face because I mean, it is my face.

Hello Blogging World.

Seeing as I am completely new to blogging I am a little unsure of what "blogging" really consists of. I doubt anyone is actually even seeing this right now. It is extremely likely that I am talking to myself right now. I could probably spew my deepest secrets and my life would be effected in no way. I guess that is what confuses me about blogging. There doesn't seem to be a point unless someone is viewing your blog, but how does one obtain readers?! I guess this is why I have avoided blogging for the many years I have been on the internet. In any case, I do hope to use this blog to chronicle my life in a way. I am hoping to use blogging as a way of being able to express my love of fashion more and "let my creativity shine" or something. Any who I guess that pretty much sums up my *first blog post ever.*
